Understanding Dental Implants
A dental implant is a titanium post placed into the jawbone to replace a missing tooth root. Once it bonds with the surrounding bone, a custom crown, bridge, or full-arch restoration is attached on top. Unlike a bridge, an implant stands independently, leaves surrounding teeth untouched, and stimulates the jawbone to prevent the bone loss that occurs when a tooth is missing.
Dr. Taylor has placed nearly 1,500 implants over the course of his career. Consultations, surgical placement, and final restoration all happen here, with no outside referrals required.
Implant Solutions for Every Situation
From a single missing tooth to a full arch, we tailor the approach to your needs.
Single Tooth Implants
A single implant replaces one missing tooth with a titanium post and a custom ceramic crown. It functions like a natural tooth, preserves the surrounding bone, and doesn't require grinding down the healthy teeth on either side the way a traditional bridge does.
All-on-4
All-on-4 replaces an entire arch of teeth using four strategically angled implants to support a fixed prosthetic. The angled placement maximizes contact with available bone, which means most patients can proceed without grafting even if some bone loss has already occurred.
Teeth in a Day
With this protocol, implants are placed and a temporary restoration is attached in the same appointment. Patients leave with functional teeth the same day. The temporary is replaced with a permanent restoration once osseointegration is complete. Candidacy depends on bone density and other clinical factors your doctor will assess at your consultation.

When It's Time to Consider Dental Implants
If any of these sound familiar, an implant consultation is worth the conversation.
- One or more missing teeth affecting chewing, speech, or the alignment of surrounding teeth.
- A tooth recommended for extraction that needs a long-term replacement plan.
- A bridge or partial denture that is uncomfortable, unstable, or no longer fitting well.
- Dentures that shift, cause soreness, or require adhesive to stay in place.
- Bone loss in the jaw that will worsen without the stimulation a tooth root provides.

The Ideal Candidate for Dental Implants
Most healthy adults are candidates. A thorough exam and 3D imaging will confirm whether implants are appropriate for your situation. Key factors include:
What to Expect During Your Implant Procedure
Six clear stages, all handled in-house — so you always know where you are and what comes next.
Consultation & Imaging
A full clinical exam and CBCT 3D scan give us a precise picture of your bone structure, nerve locations, and surrounding anatomy before any treatment is planned.
Treatment Planning
Your doctor reviews the imaging and develops a placement plan specific to your anatomy, including whether bone grafting is needed and what the timeline will look like.
Bone Grafting (If Required)
Patients with insufficient bone at the implant site may need grafting before placement. Healing time before implant placement typically ranges from three to six months.
Implant Placement
The titanium post is placed into the jawbone under local anesthesia. Osseointegration — the implant bonding with the surrounding bone — then takes place over three to six months.
Abutment Placement
Once osseointegration is confirmed, a small connector is attached to the implant. This is what the final restoration attaches to. In some cases the abutment is placed at the same time as the implant.
Final Restoration
A custom crown, bridge, or full-arch prosthetic is fabricated, attached, and adjusted for fit and bite. At this point the process is complete and the restoration is maintained like a natural tooth.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do dental implants last?
With proper care, the implant post is designed to be permanent. The crown attached to it typically lasts 15 to 25 years before it may need replacement due to normal wear. Regular cleanings and checkups are important for long-term implant health.
Does implant surgery hurt?
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. Some soreness and swelling in the days following surgery is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief. Most patients find the recovery easier than they expected.
How long does the full process take?
From consultation to final restoration, a single implant typically takes three to nine months depending on whether grafting is needed and how quickly osseointegration occurs. Your doctor will give you a realistic timeline at your consultation.
Am I too old for dental implants?
No. There is no upper age limit. Older patients are evaluated on bone density, gum health, and overall health rather than age. Many of our implant patients are seniors looking for a stable alternative to dentures.
Can implants fail?
Implant failure is uncommon but possible. The most common causes are infection at the implant site, insufficient osseointegration, and smoking. Following post-operative care instructions and maintaining regular checkups significantly reduces the risk.
Will my implant look like a natural tooth?
Yes. The crown is custom-fabricated to match the color, shape, and size of your surrounding teeth. Most patients find their implant indistinguishable from their natural teeth.
Does insurance cover dental implants?
Coverage varies by plan. Some PPO plans include a benefit for implants; others cover the crown but not the surgical placement. We verify your coverage before treatment begins so you have a clear picture of costs before committing to anything.
What is the difference between an implant and a bridge?
A bridge replaces a missing tooth by crowning the two adjacent teeth and suspending a false tooth between them. It doesn't replace the tooth root, so bone loss at the missing tooth site continues. An implant replaces both the root and the crown, preserves bone, and leaves adjacent teeth untouched.
Can I eat normally with implants?
Once fully healed, yes. Implants function like natural teeth with no dietary restrictions. During the healing period following placement, a soft food diet is recommended to avoid putting pressure on the implant site.
What is denture stabilization?
Denture stabilization uses implants to anchor a denture so it stays firmly in place without slipping or the need for adhesives.
